About

Kosa Arts is an interior & apparel arts gallery/boutique. We showcase a curated selection of fine artisan furniture, homewares and clothing intermingled with found objects.

Our space offers unique and limited edition pieces, set in evolving displays, curated to play with resonating elements.  We aim to inspire appreciation for artisan made pieces, creative, meaningful  living environments, and kindle curiosity in an inviting atmosphere that encourages self-reflection. We support high level craftsmanship, creative process, and meaningful livelihood.

Arts are the gateway to exploration, enjoyment and evolution.  Creativity is how we explore, evolve and delight in the world within and around us. It is how we come to know ourselves, our environments, and the world at large. It is also how we dismantle, re-create, communicate, and share.

Kosa's intention is to delight, stimulate and inspire. Kosa is Sanskrit for silk made from wild silkworms. We chose the name Kosa to allude to the silk worm’s metamorphosis to moth and simultaneous, awe-inspiring silk generation.

Following an education in fine arts at CCA(C), Elaine Hamblin followed a passion for art-to-wear, costuming for local dance companies,  working as design assistant for multiple bay area designers and  developing a line of hand painted fabric and apparel. This lead to an extensive career in the apparel industry leading technical design teams in SF and NY, when not treasure hunting for curious objects.

At Kosa, we look forward to offering an exceptional experience in shopping;  showcasing artisan wares from local and beyond, inspiring others to explore and and engage in the arts community in Oakland.
